Monday, July 7, 2003 . "5th Maine Fair".

Summer fairs are a longtime tradition on Peaks Island.  The popular 5th Maine Fair has been held on the second Saturday of July for almost 40 years.

The many games and "moon bounce castle" were enjoyed by dozens of island kids, the food tables made a big hit as usual, and business was brisk.   The 2003 fair featured six tables (gifts inside the main hall, chances, silent auction, Christmas in July, baked goods, and candy)....plus a whole variety of lunch items that included hot dogs, hamburgers, Sharon's famous chili, strawberry shortcake, and make-your-own ice cream sundaes.

Did you happen to be on hand to check out the do-it-yourself genuine Peaks Island T-shirts....?!  Thank you all....Peaks year-rounders and summer visitors alike....for making this year's annual fair a most successful event!  Look for a "surprise activity" at the upcoming fair in 04'...!
