"Pancake Breakfasts"
Pancake breakfasts have been a tradition at the Fifth Maine for
nearly 30 years. They've become so popular that many people plan their
island vacation around breakfast dates. The breakfasts are held the last
Sunday of June and July and the Sunday of Labor Day week-end.

In addition to being a good source of income, they serve as a time for
the community to come together to enjoy great food, interesting
conversation, and meet new people while enjoying the view from our
seaside dining room and porch. Each meal is prepared and served by a
different group of members and friends of the Fifth Maine.

It's truly a community event! Proceeds benefit the upkeep of the dining
room and kitchen - the 2005 breakfasts will help to fund the replacement
of the leaky and rotted dining room windows.
Over 300 people (a record number) enjoyed a delicious meal of pancakes,
Canadian bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit, coffeecake, orange juice and
coffee on July 31, 2005. Many lingered afterward to view the local
history and Civil War exhibits or watch videos about the Fifth Maine
Regiment. The 2006 breakfasts will be June 25, July 30 and September 3.
Helping hands are always welcome.
