Maine’s largest American Civil War reenacting organization is coming to Peaks Island. The 3rd Maine is a nonprofit educational and living history organization dedicated to preserving the memory of Maine's role in the American Civil War.

Through living history events, battle reenactments, and educational presentations they work to teach others what life was like for Maine soldiers and civilians during the years 1861 - 1865.

The reenactors will set up on the lawn of the Fifth Maine Museum to demonstrate camp life for Civil War soldiers as well as the perils of battle. This is a free event.
