Undertow Brass Band Concert and Cookout
Jul 1 @ 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Undertow Brass Band Concert and Cookout @ Fifth Maine Museum

Undertow Brass Band (FKA What Cheer? Brigade) is a brass band from Providence, RI, USA. They prove that great parties need no electricity.

“Thrillingly competent, with undimmable energy…an explosion of good cheer.”
– The New York Times

Since 2005, the band has been as likely to appear at community benefits as at all-night parties, playing bars, clubs, streets, libraries, cemeteries, weddings, bus stops, and playgrounds.

They’ve played with Blondie, Dan Deacon, Man Man, Japanther, Dengue Fever, Okkervil River, Lightning Bolt, Ninjasonik, Mika Miko, Wolf Parade, Matt and Kim, Slavic Soul Party, Javelin, Sage Francis, and Chain and the Gang.

They’ve appeared at Lollapalooza, The Newport Folk Festival, Aarhus Festuge (Denmark), Sziget (Hungary), and Guca (Serbia), offering mobile moments of intense revelry.

They’ve actually played at the Fifth Maine Museum once before and no one who was there has ever forgotten it!

We’ll have a grill going so you can replenish your energy and quench your thirst! You’ll need it!

Get ready for some fun!!

Faux and Fiestas Family Concert
Jul 7 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Faux and Fiestas Family Concert @ Fifth Maine Museum

Faux and Fiestas Family concert, featuring Tom Faux (guitar); Juan Fiestas (violin); Christine Fiestas (percussion); Robin Kearton (violin); Stella Faux (violin); and Ines Fiestas (trumpet).

The Fauxs and the Fiestas’ are families of musicians and former longtime residents of Peaks Island, now spread across the county. They play an astounding variety of music: haunting northern Peruvian compositions from the Fiestas family, traditional American fiddle music, and other fabulous
music from around the world.

Tom, Juan, and Christine performed for many years with Pacto Andino, a group well-known to southern Mainers. Juan is currently a string teacher and director of orchestras in the Corpus Christi schools. Tom and Robin run a music school in Central Illinois and perform with Robin and the Toad. Robin is a longtime principal string player (viola and violin) with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony. Stella Faux, a Peaks Island native, is now a freelance violinist in Boston. And brass player Ines is the youngest in a long line of Fiestas musicians. She studies and plays in Corpus Christi.
