The Dream Turns 60: Little-Known Stories From the March on Washington

Monday, August 28th , 2023, will mark the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, one of the most hopeful days in American history. Join civil rights scholar Marty Dobrow for a look back at this memorable day, complete with remarkable stories from people who were in attendance to hear Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legendary “I Have a Dream” speech.

Marty Dobrow is an author, a national-award-winning journalist, and a professor of communications at Springfield College. His articles about civil rights have appeared in numerous publications, including The Washington Post and The Atlantic. During the last few summers on Peaks Island, he has been working on a book that focuses on the often-neglected chapter of the civil rights movement in St. Augustine, Florida, the nation’s oldest city. The book takes a deep dive into a bittersweet period of both American history and the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
